I had the opportunity to spend some time with one of my brothers-in-law over the past week and I took the opportunity to show him some hardware hacking. Check out the video!
The build was kind of a hack, but it basically involved cramming a Raspberry Pi model A into the chassis of an old Razor scooter along with a battery, an accelerometer, and some Neopixels.
My goal, primarily, was to show him that the things you get from the store aren’t immutable as units, but can be deconstructed. And in fact, that those things are made from other things that can be disassembled/reassembled into other things as long as there’s the inspiration and the will to do so.
From an engineering standpoint, this project wasn’t anything complex. But it sure made his day!
(And by the way, the name of the project is a reference to a very old joke.)
